Captain Ben Lane is the owner and operator of River Wing Guide Services, and he brings a lifetime of local experience to every trip. Raised in the Chesapeake Bay region, he’s spent years learning the waters, fish behavior, and seasonal patterns unique to Virginia’s Northern Neck. His deep respect for the environment and appreciation for the Bay’s natural resources shape his approach to guiding.

Known for his patient, easygoing style, Captain Ben works closely with anglers of all backgrounds—from first-timers learning the basics to experienced guests looking for targeted species. He values clear communication, honest guidance, and a laid-back atmosphere where everyone on board feels welcome. The boat itself—a 2018 18-foot Parker—is built for stability and comfort in inshore conditions. Equipped with a Yamaha 115 outboard, Minn Kota trolling motor, and power pole, the vessel allows for quiet approaches in shallow water. It’s an ideal setup for casting near structure or drifting for trout and redfish. Outfitted with all required safety gear and regularly maintained, the River Wing is a solid platform for fishing, sightseeing, or simply enjoying time on the Bay.
